Give Me Liberty

 Give Me Breath Pt. 1

As one to tackle the subject of smokers rights. And give information which we all know but also going to play Devils Advocate. I write this after encountering more than several people who rubbed me the wrong way to the point of writing this. Here are my thoughts and PSA statement.

The complicated issue for health reasons, economic benefits/pro and con. Rights of individuals where with some pure dislike for a persons habits. Granted it truly is an issue many have strong feelings of contempt for those who choose to smoke. A mountain of evidence for the harm smoking does to an individual, however it has become too much of a discrimination to a persons individualism.

A point to be made for most of us who were taught to lead by example, and actions contradicts ourselves. And society, now the politically correct and majority rules preach with validity the harmful effects. And how we teach our children to never start smoking. This is absolutely correct for prevention for it is in the best interest for the younger generation. Great gains has been made in curbing the usage. Yet the freedom to choose is the right of the mature individual.

Patrick Henry’s speech on “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death.”

I am taking it upon myself to insert a few words or phrases in the first paragraph to in one way express some thoughts here.

“”No man thinks more highly than I do of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness. As well as the consideration based a persons desire to constantly point out a persons actions are not approved of by the many, I say to the very worthy men and women who addresses the issue.

But different people often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to anyone if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. The questing with this movement in our country.

For my own part, I consider it as nothing less than a question of freedom or bow down to disapproval. Near void of free by choice and in proportion to the magnitude of the subject ought to be the freedom of the debate. It is only in this way that we can hope to arrive at truth, and fulfill the great responsibility which we hold to God and to ourselves.

Should I keep back my opinions at such a time, through fear of giving offense, I should consider myself as guilty of treason towards my personal convictions of the right to choose, and of an act of disloyalty toward the majority. However I will answer to the Majesty of Heaven, which I revere above all earthly kings. “””

To confess on this, as a Child of God, a person with my choices I take is between myself and God. I hold myself accountable for my actions. On this subject the Bible makes it clear as far as how we are to live a Godly life. Yet it is still between the Almighty and the individual.

Each with our own opinions and personalities should never go to such extremes with such devilish statements of contempt and overboard for a life choice. For over time many people who smoke realize it is in their best interest to quit. I freely admit how can it be someone who knows the consequences to continue with the habit.

Being such a contentious subject there is no way I can fully speak for others on the debate as in truth it has all been said before. But will continue some thoughts expressing what many feel about what society is forced upon them.

Addiction Fiction?

Everyone say and everyone knows to have such a habit is in essence committing suicide. Heard so many times, “You’re killing yourself.” The reasoning here may sound like fallacy but to think about it. To shorten ones life when knowing the act you are killing yourself. No matter for over the years the negative effects to so many parts of the body. An act of stupidity, one word many use toward those who smoke. Thankfully there is not a law against stupidity. Smokers would be fined much much less than society as a whole.

Why are there so many ingredients in cigarettes known to causestats cancer? The tobacco industry is doing their part to bring great harm to the body? What is done by the government about it?

Nothing, while scramble to dictate all other products in the name of public welfare or a social burden. So I can say with true conviction that allowing that, and allowing the sale of such a harmful product. What message is that to send on one side of the debate. The image to the left shows why? Money!

Basically can we say “Government Assisted Suicide, or is it Second Hand Manslaughter? By allowing the sale a product even with the sage words no one is forcing you to buy it or do it. Yet there it is the governments cash cow for those who makes their own life choice. What I am writing here has been said many times and many forms of expression. Being it a personal and social issue, opinions abound. By the medical community and others in the name of saving lives. There is more to it. We know it, I can give one example to simply say a persons right to choose life and death in another hot topic.

If the powers to be were truly sincere about ridding the addiction of those who wish to quit more effort should be made to assist. One idea is give free to anyone, medications or nicotine suppression treatments free of charge along with proven steps to help with overcoming the addiction.

However I wonder does that mean robbing tax dollars from the government to back up what is dictated the taxes are for in the first place. Not failing to mention the pharmaceutical industry and other corporate participation.

There are many websites of both government and medical information. Also other arguments. No reason to release sources. The truth is out there on both sides of the debate. In addition who is to say leading the best possible way to a long healthy life. Long life holds no guarantees due to odds of general well being for living longer. So many variables. Then there is the case of expenses to extend reaching old age. Lest not forget quality of life, the cost of living is much higher than the cost of dying. Or is it the reverse? It is all subjective. Matters not, no one leaves this world alive.

Going as so led using these as to show something. Some may read more into it.
